Color Temperature Refine your results based on your desired color temperature. Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). The lower the number, the warmer the light appears (yellow). The higher the Kelvin the light will appear cooler (blue).
  • 1000K is approximately candle light (warm/yellow)
  • 6500K is approximately daylight (cool/blue).

The proper height to install sconces on the wall

Wall Sconces can be installed 60 inches (5ft) from the finish floor.

Sizing a Wall Sconce for your indoor space

There is no standard size for a sconce, but a good rule of thumb is make sure that the sconce is proportional in size to that particular space. For example commercial spaces like a restaurant (if it’s a large space) tend to use extremely large sconces to produce a sufficient light source that will serve their customers and employees. The light source should help make the customers feel comfortable and the employees should be able to function in the space. Where as in a residential space like a hallway, wall sconces smaller in sizes can be used. Remember that wall sconces is usually a light source that is both indirect and direct.


The proper height to install outdoor wall mounts | Entry Way

The height of an outdoor wall mount should be based on the height of the door. For example if a lantern is only used on one side, it should be approximately one-third the height of the door. When two lanterns are used on either side of the door, they should each be approximately one-fourth the height of the door. In either case, if you choose a fixture with a long tail or top scroll, be cautious of the overall bulk of the fixture as the height should approximate one-half the visual height of the door. The lanterns should be mounted so the filament of the bulb is approximately 66” above the threshold of the door. Depending on the outlet box location, different mounting arms (on the top or bottom) can be selected to place the filament correctly. Don’t undersized your lanterns – As a rule of thumb, lanterns will appear about half the size from 50 feet away. Visualize the front of your home as guests and neighbors would view it from the street, and when in doubt, always go larger.
